Basic Setup

First of all, we will set the stage for the whole piece. Use a very simple pattern as a new score, create enough staffs according to the following picture and adjust the staff type, the staff names and the clefs. The staff type for the drums is called “Grid Drums”, which can be changed via the arrow menu, and the clefs can be changed with the clef tool in the “Clef & Signature Tools” Palette.

Melodies

The next step is to enter all the melodies, which will create our score. Let´s start with the Rhythm Guitar section. Enter the following notes in the first 4 bars:

rhythm

This pattern should be copied four times to bars 5-8, 9-12, and 13-16.

Now add the bass line to bars 5-8 and copy it twice to bars 9-12 and 13-16:

Drums

Now the drum section needs some work. Begin with bar 5 and add the following drum section to the score:

drumpattern

This almost completes the accompaniment and drum section of this little demo score. The last bar of this score, which has number 17, should get one cymbal crash on beat one. Bar 4 should get a few kick drum beats to introduce the drum section, so please add the following:

kickdrumintro

That´s it for this part. Listen to the score. Sound´s pretty cheap doesn´t it? We will do something about this in the next part of this tutorial.
